I have been trying to get information on a Sinn 810 Q HYDRO I traded for you can see the thread here: Info Sinn 810 Q HYDRO Was it the first HYDRO?

On your thread here you talk about a Sinn Hydro prototype in 1990 I believe my watch is from 1994 or 1995 as it looks like the one from the 94 Sinn catalog and the back is stamped C-92201 with HYDRO below it but it still has on the back case 20ATM/200M I know the HYDRO was rated at 8000M so I assume this is a early model that just does not reflect the 8000M yet.

On the link bellow there is a Interview with Carlos Rosillo from Bell & Ross where he says they have the patent on the Hydro system: use of liquid silicon in the watch case for perfect water-tightness and perfect readability. Yet they did not make the Hydro Challenger until 1997 which means the Sinn 810 Q HYDRO came first, right? ?(

I was also told this watch was owned by a former Sinn employee and it looks like the last time the battery was changed the oil was not replaced. I'm going to send it in to Sinn for a full service with oil change, sounds like an automobile doesn't it. :D

Now that was a mouth full 8o

The Sinn 810 Q was supplied with an oil filling as it states on the link I gave. As far as the reflections here is a link to one that was sold a few years ago this on clearly is marked with the 8000m on the dial and you can see shadows under the crystal I don't know if that's what you were referring to or not? http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&th=557768&mid=1604055&rid=83252&rev=&reveal=

That "HYDRO" marking is confusing. That's what bothers me but I was told this was owned by a ex Sinn employee so maybe he used a different dial so it would not show as a quartz?

I think on Markus's page he refers to the HYDRO and from what I understand all the HYDRO'S are oil filled!, that's what makes them a HYDRO. And as far as Daniel's point on the membrane there were several models of oil filled watches that did not have a membrane.

Is there a way to look up this model of HYDRO from the serial number? C-92201 with HYDRO below it.

That's exactly the point, Daniel: That particular watch doesn't feature an oil filling! :bulge: The link to Markus' SINN Info Page confirms it, too!

You can see that when you carefully look at the pics: there are reflexions on the crystal that shouldn't be visible if the watch was filled with a liquid. Moreover, the black colour of the dial should look much more substantial when seen through an oil filling - just compare the pics in this thread to photos of the UX.

So, the WR marking is correct as the "conventional" 810 Q was only pressure-tested for 20 bars. It's just that "HYDRO" marking that is confusing. According to Markus' SINN Info Page the 810 Q was never supplied with an oil filling.

    I am now a Sinner 8)

I just got this watch I was told it was owned by a ex Sinn employee. Now according to this site : http://www.sinn-uhren.info/30.html it should have 8000m on the dial and I would assume that indicates 8000 meters yet on the back it says 20 ATM/200M So is this a transition model? It also does not have the Quartz logo on the dial as the ones in the pictures. Any information on the watch would be great I think I got a good deal on it at $650 being how rare they seem to be, let me know if I'm wrong.

    Thanks
    Kevin

:cl:
