New member from the UK!

  • Good evening everyone.

    First of all, please accept my apologies, I have been registered on the forum now since May and only saw AndiS message about introducing myself. I have been quite active on the forum today, learning about a new watch that arrived from Switzerland this morning, and the information I have gathered has been invaluable.

    So, a little bit about myself;

    I am in my early 50s and have been interested in watches since my 20s. The recent boom in the premium brands left me a little disillusioned, many people became watch officionados just to make a quick buck. I have had many brands over the years and a few Sinn have come and gone over the past couple of decades but the opportunity to buy a NOS box and papers 144 a few years back really piqued my interest in HS era chronos. Since then, I have created a collection of such watches and each of these watches gives me more pleasure than any Rolex, Omega, Panerai etc that ive previously owned. I still have a few 'high-end' watches, but they rarely see light of day as I want to wear something more interesting. Whilst having been aware of this forum for quite some time, many attempts to register had failed, probably due to not understanding the German language and my inability to grasp the potential of Google translate! My desire to learn about these watches eventually led me to succesfully register, and I have spent many hours reading old threads about some of the watches in my watchbox. The one thing I have learned though, is that earlier Sinn watches have a huge amount of variations and anomalies, serial numbers arent a reliable way of dating a watch, but this makes everything all the more interesting. Also, being in the UK creates its own problems when trying to add to my collection. Relatively few watches come up for sale within the UK that are of interest to me. Japan and the EU have a much more plentiful supply but importing them comes with greater costs and some people wont sell to me at all.

    So, a quick pic of my Sinn collection. There are a few others but they are either modern references or currently for sale so not really part of my collection. If anyone wants to see any particular watch in more detail, just say and I'll gladly oblige. Also, if you have any information about any of the watches, I'd love to hear it, good or bad. I'm here to learn, afterall.

    If you've read this far, then thank you, heres a pic, as promised.

  • First of all: welcome to the forum ! :mus:

    Your collection is already something special, there are models that you rarely see even here. I am also interested in your younger Sinn models. Can we see more pics?
    Where exactly are you from uk?
    Buying Sinn:
    In fact, the range of used Sinn watches in the UK is significantly lower, but nowadays shipping and secure payment is no longer a problem.
    If you want to buy several Sinn watches at the same time and want to see the watches in person, I recommend a visit to one of our Sinn GetTogether in Frankfurt.
    Most of us combine the GTG with a visit to the headquarters of Sinn. A must-attend event for every Sinn-Fan, some also call it Mecca. :D

    Finally, enjoy the forum !
    :rauch: :popcorn: :cheers:

  • Thanks for the kind words, AndiS.

    After my EZM9 sold very recently, the remaining modern reference I have is the EZM 13.1. This watch just looks and feels right, in my opinion. A great candidate if I was ever to be a 1 watch man! (Never gonna happen).

    I also have another 157 that’s currently for sale, and a 256;

  • A very warm welcome also from my side!

    Impressive collection! : doppelt Daumen hoch

    Best,

  • Welcome Stefaulkner to the most useful of all SINNforums.

  • Thanks for the warm welcome, gents.

    To answer a few questions that I'd overlooked, my name is Steve and I live in the middle of England on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire/Warwickshire and Staffordshire border!

    I will pop some more pics up of each of the watches, but I had planned to place them in the threads dedicated to the model reference in the appropriate section.

  • Welcome, Stef. Always happy to see more vintage fans joining our ranks here at the forum :wolf:

    Viele Grüße,

  • Hi Steve,
    good to see you here in the SInn-Forum. As mentioned, when we were in contact about the watch you have bought from me, this is the best, most ressourceful, entertaining, specialized and refreshing forum you may find for SINN watches. As it is a very special brand with loads of interesting history I deem it to be even better than platforms for the more expensive timepieces! As Andi has stated it is very advisable to join one of the get togethers here in Frankfurt in combination with a visit to the nearby head office with the large sales room.
    Looking forward to your participation in the forum, all the best and see you sometimes!
    Best regards Christian

  • Hello Steve and welcome to the best watch forum :mus: .
    You have acquired some real Sinn classics. If you are looking for defined information and an exchange among the members, you will find that you have come to the right place. I can well understand that historical Sinn watches are more interesting than those of the so-called luxury class.
    So, have fun here in the forum and don't forget
