• Hello my dear Sinn collectors,

My name is Binder and I am from Malaysia. I found out about this amazing forum through a video on YouTube yesterday.

I would like to firstly thank the Moderator for kindly approving my request to be part of this close knit group.

I had purchased my first Sinn watch (U1-fully tegimented) 2 days ago. It was a long wait for me and is my grail watch. We only have 1 Sinn authorised dealer here in Malaysia.

When I can home after receiving my watch, to my dismay, I noticed that the dial has no “Made in Germany” engraving. I was very disappointed being a die hard fan of German technology, including my Audi, I could not understand this missing important element in my newly purchased watch.

I am reaching out to you all please to advise me if this is common for the Sinn U1 model to not have the “Made in Germany” engraving. I have attached pictures of my watch here.

For me, Sinn is a watch which is my pride of being associated with the Founder and Germany, and would be inherited by my son later.

The “Made in Germany” is something I am truly proud off, but this doesn’t appear in my U1. Can you please let me know your thoughts please.

I apologise from my heart that this message is written in English.

    Thank you all so kindly

    Binder

:mggl:Schönheit liegt einzig im Auge des Betrachters :mggl:

    Liebe Grüße Dimi

  • Hello Binder,

welcome here ! :willkommen schild: yourock

I cannot say why it is not printed on some dials. At least it is correct according to the actual homepage ( sinn.de ) . The black dial does not show this printing.

Across all models, there are more not to have this printing on the dial, whereas most showing "Made in Germany".

Nevertheless enjoy your U1 😁 it is a good choice !

I never realized that the U1 doesn't show the 'Made in Germany' printing - and that the blue version has it instead ... :bulge:

  • Hello Binder,

first of all, a warm welcome to Malaysia :welcome:. And congratulations on your grail watch, the Sinn U1. You‘ve chosen an indestructible classic from Sinn-Spezialuhren. I understand that it‘s important to you to have the ‚made in germany‘ inscription on the dial. However, the Sinn webside doesen‘t actually show ‚made in germany‘ on the dials of the standard U1 models.

I hadn‘t noticed that before. But you can rest assured that your Sinn U1 diver‘s watch is 100% Made in Germany.

I hope you enjoy the best watch forum of all.

    But never forget

  • Thank you all so much for the amazing warm welcome to this Sinn brotherhood. I have been an avid fan of Sinn for a long time and this group is just a magical addition to my passion.

I’m an overall avid OCD watch collector, very guilty I know , so for the Sinn U1 and similar black matte dials, there is actually a beautiful engraving of “Made in Germany” which can be seen under lighting …if you enlarge the U1 in the official Sinn website, you can notice this at the 6 o’clock position. It’s easy to miss as even the authorised dealer here in Malaysia was totally surprised when I pointed this out…

I happen to now have probably the only Sinn U1 without the engraving…the dealer has told me they will contact Sinn Germany to ask for a replacement…it is so so difficult to have my dream piece just sitting in a box in my room…

  • So you own the "blue Mauritius" of the Sinn U1 :nww:

Our forum has a limited number privat "in house fair" ( well, sort of ) this month, in case I will not forget, I'm gonna ask them.

  • Hello Binder,

Welcome to the best forum in the world and congratulations on THE Sinn watch ever!

I wish you much enjoyment and many happy hours wearing your U1.

    Viele Grüße
    Andy

  • Hello Binder
Firstly, a warm welcome from me to our forum. I can well understand your astonishment and frustration. In order to get a satisfactory answer as quickly as possible, I would contact Sinn customer service directly, either by e-mail or possibly personally by telephone. I can well imagine that they will be able to help you with your question.

    Gruss

  • Hello Christian,

Blessed Saturday wish to you and all in this warm forum.

I did inform the AD to get help from Sinn directly and below attachment is the response from Sinn.

I truly in my heart don’t think the response from Sinn is representative of the Corporate view but one that is isolated, as I cannot imagine being brushed off without any consideration of the Sinn heritage.

I have also informed the AD that I have brought an anomaly in their Sinn U1 design, which as a customer is silently reporting a flaw. I also told my AD, that I am truly looking for Sinn to help me replace this timepiece, not looking for a refund.

This is not just any timepiece for me, it’s an embodiment of the Founder with his name on our wrist. Sometimes we all forget that the brand name actually belongs to a soul who is responsible in our daily happiness when the watch is on our wrist….with its birth certificate as Made in Germany.

I am still waiting to hear back from my AD as they have reached out to Sinn again. I will be returning my U1 on Wednesday, but will not ask for a refund as I am praying Sinn would consider.

There isn’t a single U1 which I have come across without the Made in Germany inscription, on videos, on websites and on documents …
